How to use the course library

The course library is an effective way of giving staff optional training to complete, in this guide we will show you how to use this effectively. First of all, we want to make it clear that the course library isn't the feature to use if you want to assign mandatory training to your staff and for users to receive email notifications and reminders. It is used to present extra courses that users can complete if they wish. Above is an example of the library which is displayed below the assigned courses on the main user dashboard when the login. If a user completes one of these courses the record of completion will still be on their account and they can download a certificate of completion. To choose which courses you want to display in the library visit "Manage" >> "Users and Groups" and select "Course Library". You will then be able to toggle which courses you want to make available in the library. If you want to make different courses available to different groups this is also a possibility and all you will need to do is highlight the group you want to choose the courses for. *Note if you select all users and then choose another group after those courses will be locked unless you remove them from the all users library. If you add a course to the library do not also add this as a course on an assignment as this will cause confusion to the user as they are treated as completely separate enrollments. E.g. If you complete the "Anti Bribery" course on an assignment this will show as completed in the "Assigned courses" on your dashboard. Then if you also make it available in the library even though you have completed it on an assignment within the course library it will show as "Not started" as you have never completed it within the library. As mentioned above the library is good to display optional training.
